Tonight begins this year’s Big East Conference schedule. And we at BigEastHoops.com will once again try to provide you with insight towards the season as it progresses towards Tournament play in March. The goal of these predictions is simple, better than 75% accuracy. Hopefully, throughout the course of the season we’ll try and keep you updated with what to look for it as the season gets under way. So feel free to chime in, and let us know if our thinking is spot on, or out in left field. The following is our opening edition of Big East Predictions that begins with the biggest of Big east classic match-ups:
Monday
Pitt over UConn – Kemba Walker will dazzle, but the Petersen Events Center will prove too much for the young Huskies as Pitt should win by about 10.
Tuesday
Seton Hall over USF – The Pirates open the Big East Conference schedule with a win at home.
Cincinnati over DePaul – The Bearcats win easily at home.
Syracuse over Providence – This one may be closer than you think, but the Orange should pull away in the end.
Wednesday
Georgetown over Notre Dame – The first team to win a road game in conference will be the Hoyas. These teams have played some classics in recent years, and I expect this one to be the same. Expect the Irish to keep it close but fall in the final seconds.
West Virginia over St. John’s – Another great game on Wednesday evening as the Johnnies hang with the Mountaineers all night before falling in the final minute of play.
Friday
UConn over USF – The Huskies pummel the Bulls rebounding from the loss at Pittsburgh.
Seton Hall over Cincinnati – The Pirate move to an impressive 2-0 with a win on the road in Cincinnati.
Weekend picks will be made on Saturday morning. Enjoy!
