Here’s some Elite 8 match-ups:
1st Quarterfinal: #1 seed vs #3 seed
2nd Quarterfinal: #1 seed vs #6 seed
3rd Quarterfinal: #3 seed vs #6 seed
4th Quarterfinal: #1 seed vs Lower ranked team
Sounds like a fantastic NCAA elite 8, right? Well it would be, but that was just this year’s Big East tournament.
If you break down the NCAAs into 8 separate 8 team tournaments, they do not compare to what we just watched at MSG. If you are looking at your brackets and wondering why they look easy to progress through, it’s because they are. It’s much easier than what our teams have been playing every game. Could 7 schools make it out to the Elite 8? Not likely, but I think 5 or maybe even 6 is realistic.

Well, 3 Big East teams made it to the Elite 8… on the first night. ‘Cuse and ‘Ville have their chance tonight.
Best guess is that Loisville makes it, Syracuse stumbles, but by any measure 4 of 8 (and your close prediction) are outstanding.
