West Virginia: In or Out?

Some people have been talking about the Big East only getting 6 teams in the NCAAs. That’s ridiculous. They’ll get 7. Pittsburgh will be the sixth team in the Dance. They’ve disappointed of late, and have dropped down the standings, but they’ll be in the NCAA tournament, where they’ll probably get beat in the first round.
West Virginia will be in as well. After they defeat SJU in their final game of the season they’ll have 22 wins. All of the experts on television will then tell you that the Mountaineers “need to win one game” in the conference tournament. Yea, yea, I’ve heard that a thousand times as well. And they’ll win that one game that everyone wants to see them win. Their Wednesday matchup in the BE Tournament will likely be against Seton Hall. During the season , they dominated the Pirates and won 89-68. They’ll be nearly as impressive at MSG and move on to their Thursday game where they will likely be eliminated by either Notre Dame or UConn. Still, if they win their next two games, and go out on Thursday, they’ll be sitting on a 23-10 record, 12 conference wins, and an RPI around 40.
So fear not Mountaineer fans, you’ll be in the tournament, and a hot pick for an upset of a higher seed.

I don’t understand why Pitt is so in.
They’re 5-5 in their last 10 games. Their two strong wins are a one point victory over Duke early on, and a January 14th victory against Georgetown.
I know the committee doesn’t simply use the RPI directly, but I think for bubble teams, it’s a strong place to start.
Pitt’s RPI: 24.
Bracketology’s “last four in” and “last four out”: 51, 52, 53, 55, 58 (Cuse), 61, 64, and 70.
I think the bubble teams are simply that much worse right now.
