I love the Big East - but given that Dayton crushed Pitt and beat Lousville on the road - well, they are 2-0 already against pretty good Big East teams, how could they go 9-9 when they have already beaten two of the better Big East teams.. On a neutral court Dayton, if they played today, would only be an underdog against two Big East teams - Georgetown and Marquette.

I think the A 10 deserves four teams in the NCAAs.

I like Duquesne as well - they have really drilled some teams - and they could cause havoc with the A-10 "four bid" scenario.

The point I will grant is that the bottom of the A-10 - Fordham (I mean what happened to those guys), the Bonnies, LaSalle, Richmond, - that is weaker than the Big East. But the top 4 teams slide in very comparable to Big East teams 3-8. I mean the record is there to see, it is hard to argue with, the teams already played.

I can't see how I'm calling out the A10. I just think the wrong pair of A10 schools is getting the most attention--it should be Xavier and Duquesne, not Dayton and Rhode Island. It’s a matter of overemphasizing wins vs. quality of play.

My "weak enough" comment is about the overall depth of the conferences. You're spot on--the A10 goes 6 deep at the same or better quality as the BEast goes 11 deep. To illustrate, here's the conference's BEO rankings:

A10 – 7 18 30 56 58 66 107 118 165 172 185 191 214 239

BE - 3 5 11 17 18 33 38 41 69 74 76 109 140 143 153 221

I think Dayton will go 10-6 because they will comfortably outclass 3/5 of their conference opponents. In the Big East, they’d be right in the middle at 9-9.

UMass, Dayton, and Rhode Island have a combined five wins against Big East teams - Lousville, Providence, Syracuse, Pitt - including four games on the road. Calling Dayton over-rated when they weren't even the top 25 until they destroyed Pitt is a bit over the top, and calling the A-10 week - well, the bottom of it might be (although St. Joes, Temple and Duquesne are arguably as good or better than teams BE teams 8-12) isn't accurate either.

A 10 is the wrong conference to pick on, especially as a Big East fan.

Nice call on West Virginia. They pulled out a strong win today against Marquette. Things in the Big East are, as always, nuts.
