I’m so happy the tournament is here. You can’t help but be in a good mood today, even if the Huskies aren’t in it.

We all like upsets, and I love predictions. Some here’s some things to look for during the tournament.

My first round upset pick is VCU over Duke. Dukie V will be so sad. I wouldn’t be surprised to see ND go down to Winthrop either, but I think the Irish will pull out a close one. In the second round, I like UNLV over Wisconsin. I also believe the first 1-seed that will go down will be North Carolina, who’ll lose to Texas. I believe all the Big East teams will win their first game except for Marquette. Sorry Marquette fans, I know I’ve been hating on them a lot this year. I’ll jump on their bandwagon for next year though. My Sweet 16 are Florida, Maryland, Notre Dame, UNLV, Kansas, Va Tech, Pitt, UCLA, UNC, Texas, WSU, Gtown, Ohio St, Tennessee, A&M and Memphis. My Elite 8 are Florida, ND, Kansas, UCLA, Texas, Gtown, Ohio St and A&M. My final four are Florida, Kansas, Gtown and A&M. And I have Kansas beating our Hoyas in the final.

Anyway, I hope you all agree with my picks, because that is what is going to happen. Enjoy the games, this is a great weekend.

Marquette looked horrible in losing to MSU

I still think the Hoyas have a chance to do this whole thing……. But I picked the Irish to win it all…… TOTALLY WITH MY HEART!

Nice job with that pick. I would not want to guard Eric Maynor. My ankles would be seriously broken. Nice job with the Marquette pick, too. You only got one wrong today, huh?

I was wrong with Paulus — I think he’s got a lot more game than I gave him credit for. I actually feel bad for him — he probably hears lots of shit from dumb people like me, but he’s got skills.

Coach O — I picked the Irish to go to the Final Four, but with my brain. I’m not sure which is worse — me picking it with my brain, or you with your heart.

I also sort of felt bad for Paulus and Duke last night, but there are obvious, serious holes in Paulus’ game. I felt bad for Duke because VCU did exactly what I’d tell my team to do if I was a coach: 60% three-point shooting. It was a classic tournament upset as the ‘dogs were lights out from outside.

Paulus shows flashes at times but should be blamed for a significant number of turnovers last night. It’s not as if he normally controls the ball well — this is not new. I think his passing fundamentals are terrible for a point guard, as he routinely puts his teammates in poor position to shoot or even maintain possession.

My “chalk” BEology picks also went 15 of 16, missing just the Duke result. Take that RPI (13 of 16).

Lesson…… Always pick with your head and not your heart……. 4-13 from the foul line and 4-22 from three…. = loss
