Just a short note on the tourney which will start tomorrow at noon…….

Lamont Hamilton will not participate for St. John’s. He injured his knee against Providence in the Red Storm’s final game and Coach Roberts has declared him out of the tourney.

Jeff Green is a great choice for Player of the Year. Nice to see the coaches rewarding a player for contributions other than just scoring.

Mike Brey did a wonderful job as Coach of the Year. He took the preseason #11 pick and got a 4th place bye for the Irish.

Jerel McNeal is a deserving winner of the Defensive Player of the Year. His relentless defense and outstanding ability to pick opposing players makes him the best choice.

Scottie Reynolds. Need I say more! A runaway for Rookie of the Year. No contest here.

Herbert Hill has come a long way to win Most Improved Player. He has upped his game every year and has become a force inside for the Friars.

Brandon Jenkins, I don’t know the criteria for the Sportsmanship Award, but any player that earns this award in this conference must truly deserve it!
