[...] I’ve been saying this for a while. The way to beat Georgetown is to reduce the amount of time they spend in their half court set. Villanova did it last year quite effectively. Looks like Rick Pitino has been reading bigeasthoops.com. [...]

[...] Georgetown ran into trouble today not because of Hibbert, but because they didn’t play great defense and started their offense too late. This was somewhat an issue last year, too (see here). [...]

[...] Will OSU press? This has been extremely effective against Georgetown. Case in point: Villanova played Georgetown three times this year (see here for our recap of one of the games), and they played them tough three times (even in their loss to G’town in the Big East Tournament, where the Hoyas dominated Villanova in the first half). It was their press that caused Georgetown fits. Even though their guards are effective in the half-court set, it seems that they are more used to throwing (and catching) short, precise passes than the longer passes that are necessary to beat a press. If Motta decides to press, this may cause the Hoyas fits. [...]

[...] Nova’s Press: Will it pester Georgetown as it has in the past? Or has JT3 finally solved it? The last Nova-Georgetown game was the most flustered I’d see the Hoyas in a while. Even though they won, the Nova press fundamentally alters the Georgetown offense. How can you be patient with the Princeton offense when you only start the offense with 25 seconds left on the shot clock? [...]

[...] Eric Devendorf is a poor man’s Manu Ginobli. Yes, I love analogies (previous ones I’ve brought up here include Jeff Green being a poor man’s Chris Webber, Marquette’s triumvirate as a poor man’s 2005-2006 Villanova three-guard lineup, and Dominic James as a poor man’s Allen Iverson). Or I just love poor men. Regardless, Devendorf and Ginobli are both crafty in their head and shoulder jerks and are unafraid to venture down the lane. [...]
